Sports streaming platform W-Sport is expanding its European footprint after launching on Amazon Prime Video in both France and the Netherlands, giving Prime Video users easier access to its portfolio of live women’s sporting events.
The distribution agreement makes W-Sport available as an add-on subscription through Amazon’s marketplace, simplifying access for sports fans while extending the channel’s reach across two key European markets. Subscribers will be able to watch a wide range of international women’s competitions spanning multiple sports.
The move reflects the growing role of platform aggregation in the streaming industry, where content providers increasingly rely on established digital ecosystems to broaden distribution and attract new audiences. Rather than requiring users to download a standalone app, channels can leverage Amazon Prime Video’s existing customer base and billing infrastructure.
For W-Sport, the partnership represents another step in its mission to increase the visibility of women’s sports through wider digital distribution. Demand for dedicated women’s sports coverage has grown significantly in recent years, prompting broadcasters and streaming platforms to invest more heavily in premium rights and specialist programming.
The launch also reinforces Amazon Prime Video’s strategy of expanding its marketplace with niche premium channels, giving subscribers greater flexibility to personalise their entertainment and sports offerings.
