A1 has launched A1 Select, a new subscription platform that allows its Austrian customers to manage a range of digital services from one place within the Mein A1 app. The proposition spans streaming, fitness, education, children’s entertainment and TV add-ons.
Rather than subscribing to a fixed bundle, customers purchase individual subscription “slots” for €6.90 per month. Each slot can be assigned to an eligible digital service and switched to another service every month, giving users considerably more flexibility over their subscriptions.
At launch, the catalogue includes services such as Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, YouTube Premium, CANAL+, Gymondo and Les Mills+, alongside A1’s own TV products and services covering learning, health and children’s entertainment. Customers can hold up to 15 slots simultaneously.
A1 is offering private mobile and internet customers their first slot free for six months. Depending on the service selected, the operator says customers can save as much as 30% compared with subscribing at the standard retail price.
All subscriptions can be managed through the Mein A1 app, where customers can see their active slots, select new services and switch providers each month. A1 intends to continue expanding the number of services available through the platform.
The launch represents an interesting evolution of the traditional telecom bundle. Instead of simply packaging connectivity with a handful of streaming subscriptions, A1 is positioning itself as a central marketplace and subscription manager for digital services, potentially giving the operator a larger role in the relationship between consumers and third-party digital platforms.
