wedotv Expands VIDAA Partnership into MENA and South Africa

Streaming channel operator wedotv has renewed and significantly expanded its distribution agreement with VIDAA, extending its FAST channel footprint into the MENA region and South Africa. The partnership between the two companies originally began in 2023.

Under the expanded agreement, wedotv Sports MENA and wedotv Cars are now available through VIDAA in the MENA region. In South Africa, viewers gain access to wedotv Big Stories, wedotv Cars and wedotv: Piel Salvaje.

The expansion takes wedotv’s FAST presence on VIDAA to 14 territories and regions, including DACH, the UK, Italy, LATAM, Brazil, Poland, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Israel, MENA and South Africa.

Iza Piotrowska, SVP Global Business Development at wedotv, said VIDAA has become an important component of the company’s international distribution strategy, particularly because of the connected-TV reach it provides across multiple markets.

For VIDAA, the expanded partnership adds more free programming while supporting the platform’s strategy of growing its content catalogue internationally. The operating system currently powers more than 50 million TVs across 180 countries and is used by manufacturers including Hisense, Toshiba, Loewe, Leica, Schneider and Element.

The agreement illustrates the increasingly important role of smart-TV operating systems in FAST distribution, giving channel operators such as wedotv a direct route onto millions of connected television screens without requiring viewers to install separate streaming apps.
