Dolby Laboratories and Hisense have begun the first global rollout of Dolby Vision 2, bringing the next generation of Dolby’s HDR technology to selected Hisense TVs through a firmware update.
The rollout initially covers Hisense’s 2026 UX, UR9, UR8 and U7 series, with the U7 marketed as the U7 Pro in Europe, the Middle East and Central and South America. Both Google TV and VIDAA models are included, with additional televisions expected to receive the update across North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific in the coming weeks.
Unlike a hardware upgrade, Dolby Vision 2 is being delivered through software and works with existing Dolby Vision content across movies, TV programmes, gaming and live sports. The technology introduces a new image engine alongside Content Intelligence, which dynamically optimises picture settings on a scene-by-scene basis.
Higher-end Hisense televisions will also support Dolby Vision 2 Max, including features such as Authentic Motion to improve motion presentation and Light Sense 2, which adapts picture quality according to ambient lighting conditions. Hisense says its UX, UR9, UR8 and U7 ranges will be the first TVs worldwide to support Dolby Vision 2 Max.
The technology is also gaining support on the content side. CANAL+, iQIYI and Peacock have committed to supporting Dolby Vision 2’s expanded capabilities in future content, although launch dates have not yet been announced.
