Free streaming provider wedotv has expanded its presence in Germany through a new distribution agreement with Tele Columbus, bringing wedotv Movies to the operator’s PŸUR cable TV network.
The ad-supported movie channel is now available on channel 55 as part of PŸUR’s basic cable package, giving around three million households access to its line-up of international and European films and TV series. The channel is a curated linear version of wedotv’s broader streaming catalogue.
Advertising on the channel is delivered using HbbTV technology, combining Dynamic Ad Insertion and Dynamic Ad Substitution. This allows programmatic, addressable and contextual advertising campaigns to be integrated into the live television signal, including more precise targeting on connected TVs.
The agreement is significant for wedotv as it continues to expand beyond FAST apps and streaming platforms into traditional linear distribution. Founder and CEO Philipp Rotermund described the PŸUR launch as another step toward establishing wedotv’s channels within the German cable market.
For Tele Columbus, the partnership adds another free-to-air entertainment offering to PŸUR’s basic package while illustrating the growing convergence between FAST streaming, addressable advertising and traditional cable television.
