Sky Italia has renewed its exclusive rights to the United Rugby Championship (URC) for another three seasons, securing coverage of the competition through the end of the 2028/29 campaign.
The new agreement maintains Sky’s focus on the Italian side of the championship, covering all matches involving Benetton Treviso and Zebre Parma. The broadcaster will also show the tournament’s knockout phase from the playoffs onwards.
Matches will be available across Sky Sport, with streaming access provided through NOW, extending the competition across both traditional pay-TV and streaming audiences in Italy.
The URC brings together 16 clubs from Italy, Ireland, Wales, Scotland and South Africa. The 2026/27 season begins on September 25, with Benetton facing the Dragons, followed a day later by Zebre’s match against the Bulls.
Sky Italia is also expanding the editorial content surrounding the championship, particularly around its two Italian franchises. This includes dedicated programming such as a season preview ahead of the opening round.
The renewal further strengthens Sky Italia’s rugby portfolio. Alongside the URC, its current offering includes the Nations Championship and the WXV Global Series, featuring Italy’s women’s national team.
Giuseppe De Bellis, EVP News, Sports & Entertainment at Sky Italia, welcomed the continuation of the partnership, positioning the URC as an important part of the broadcaster’s international rugby coverage.
