Foxxum and Tennis Channel are taking their Connected TV collaboration further with a new agreement focused on developing a next-generation portfolio of CTV applications. The partnership builds on a relationship that has been in place since 2019.
Over the past seven years, Foxxum has supported Tennis Channel across a broad range of connected-TV environments, including Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV, Samsung, Comcast and Vizio, alongside additional operator platforms.
Under the expanded deal, Foxxum will work directly with Tennis Channel’s software engineering team to develop new applications around the broadcaster’s bespoke backend infrastructure. The project will also involve migrating existing apps to the new backend while maintaining consistent performance across multiple CTV ecosystems.
The collaboration extends beyond app development. The two companies will continue working together on product development, platform optimisation and Tennis Channel’s broader CTV growth strategy, as the sports broadcaster increases its focus on streaming and connected devices.
Foxxum CEO Ronny Lutzi highlighted the technical complexity involved in moving an established multi-platform app portfolio onto new infrastructure. The company’s role will be to manage that transition efficiently while creating a foundation capable of supporting Tennis Channel’s longer-term expansion.
Tennis Channel already operates a significant digital ecosystem alongside its traditional television network. Its main app provides live and on-demand matches, original programming and personalised multi-view features across mobile and CTV devices. The broadcaster also operates Tennis Channel 2, its FAST service, which reaches more than 100 million US homes.
Owned by Sinclair, Tennis Channel holds exclusive US coverage of the ATP Tour and WTA Tour. The renewed Foxxum partnership gives the broadcaster a technology framework to continue developing its streaming experience as connected-TV viewing becomes an increasingly important part of its distribution strategy.
