TiVo Introduces Conversational AI to Simplify Content Discovery

0

TiVo is bringing conversational AI into the television experience with Agent TiVo, a new assistant designed to help viewers find content through natural conversations rather than traditional keyword searches. The technology supports both voice and text interactions across TV and streaming environments.

Instead of requiring viewers to know exactly what they want to watch, Agent TiVo can interpret requests based on mood, genre, actors, sports teams, memorable quotes or content availability. Users can then continue the conversation with follow-up questions to narrow down their options before choosing a programme.

Personalisation is another central element. Agent TiVo uses viewing behaviour to tailor its recommendations and can also explain why a particular programme or movie has been suggested, adding more context to the discovery process. TiVo positions this entertainment-specific approach as a key difference from general-purpose AI assistants.

Behind the experience is a hybrid technology architecture combining large language models with TiVo’s existing voice, discovery and personalisation capabilities. Queries can be directed towards different models depending on the task, an approach TiVo says can help reduce both processing costs and response times.

The solution has also been designed with operators in mind. Agent TiVo can be deployed as a white-label product, allowing pay-TV providers and entertainment platforms to retain control over their branding and customer experience. TiVo says it can be integrated into existing deployments without requiring major infrastructure changes.

The launch follows growing industry interest in natural-language interfaces, a topic that featured prominently during IBC2026. For Xperi, TiVo’s parent company, Agent TiVo forms part of a broader strategy to improve discovery and engagement across connected TVs, streaming services and traditional pay-TV platforms.
