AfroCinema has expanded its distribution in the UK with a launch on Freeview via Channelbox, bringing a dedicated selection of African films and entertainment to connected television audiences.
The channel is now accessible through the Channelbox platform on compatible Freeview-connected TVs, extending AfroCinema’s reach beyond conventional streaming environments and giving UK viewers easier access to African-produced movies and programming.
The launch reflects growing demand for more diverse and internationally focused content within the UK television market. AfroCinema’s catalogue provides a dedicated destination for African storytelling, helping filmmakers and producers reach audiences outside their domestic markets.
For Channelbox, the addition further expands its portfolio of IP-delivered channels available through the Freeview ecosystem. Its model allows specialist and international broadcasters to secure television distribution without requiring traditional terrestrial broadcast capacity.
The partnership also demonstrates how FAST and IP-delivered television are opening Freeview to a broader range of niche content providers, combining the familiarity of linear television with the flexibility of internet-based distribution.
