Netflix has closed its 2026 US Upfront with advertising commitments nearly double those secured last year, highlighting the growing importance of advertising within the streaming company’s business strategy.
The company reported strong advertiser demand across its entertainment slate and increasingly valuable live programming. NFL games, WWE and MLB are attracting advertiser interest, while sponsorships for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup have already sold out, with almost all available in-game inventory also taken.
Alongside premium content, Netflix is investing heavily in its Netflix Ads Suite. Advertisers can now transact programmatically through platforms including Google Display & Video 360, Amazon, Yahoo and The Trade Desk, making Netflix inventory easier to integrate into existing media-buying strategies.
Netflix is also expanding its advertising formats. Pause Ads are now available programmatically across all DSPs, while AI-powered creative tools can automatically transform existing advertiser assets into pause-ad formats. New interactive solutions include Send to Phone and Frame Ads, designed to create more direct engagement between viewers and brands.
The platform is strengthening its measurement capabilities as well, introducing Conversion, Reach and Audience APIs supported by AI-driven tools. The Netflix Ads Suite has also received its first accreditation from the Media Rating Council, an important milestone as Netflix seeks to compete more directly with established digital advertising platforms.
Following its US Upfront, Netflix plans its first international Upfront events, with presentations scheduled in Mexico City, São Paulo, Tokyo, London and Paris.
