BBC Studios has officially launched its on-demand service BBC Player on Movistar Plus+, marking the platform’s debut in Spain and significantly expanding access to British programming for Spanish audiences.
The launch brings more than 700 hours of curated BBC content, fully localised in Spanish and available to all Movistar Plus+ IPTV subscribers — who represent the vast majority of the service’s customer base. The new addition further strengthens Movistar’s ambition to become Spain’s leading home for global entertainment.
The BBC Player catalogue offers a diverse mix of genres, ranging from drama and factual entertainment to lifestyle and natural history. Among the standout titles at launch are Louis Theroux’s acclaimed documentaries, the natural history special Attenborough and the Giant Dinosaur, featuring Sir David Attenborough’s journey to Argentina to explore the discovery of the world’s largest known dinosaur, and Big Cat Diary, chronicling the lives of African big cats in Kenya.
Lifestyle and travel titles such as Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby also feature prominently, offering viewers a look behind the scenes of some of the world’s most remarkable hotels. Entertainment fans will find The Weakest Link Celebrity Specials and Ultimate Wedding Planner, while mystery lovers can enjoy BBC Studios’ popular drama brands including Father Brown, Death in Paradise, Beyond Paradise, and the upcoming Return to Paradise — all available on-demand as full boxsets.
