Disney+ has strengthened its European sports portfolio after securing the exclusive rights to broadcast LaLiga across the Nordic region, expanding the platform’s premium live sports offering.

Under the agreement, Disney+ will become the exclusive home of Spain’s top football competition in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland, giving subscribers access to live matches throughout the season. The acquisition further reinforces Disney’s investment in premium sports content as streaming services continue competing for high-value broadcasting rights.

Live sport remains one of the most effective drivers of subscriber growth and customer retention, prompting streaming platforms to invest heavily in exclusive rights. By adding LaLiga to its Nordic portfolio, Disney+ strengthens its position in a market where premium football continues to attract strong viewer demand.

For LaLiga, the partnership increases exposure across Northern Europe while supporting its international media strategy through collaboration with one of the world’s largest streaming platforms. The agreement also reflects the continuing migration of premium sports rights from traditional broadcasters to direct-to-consumer streaming services.

The deal highlights the growing importance of exclusive live sports in Europe’s streaming market, where premium rights continue to play a central role in platform differentiation.
