French-language international broadcaster TV5MONDE has expanded its distribution partnership with Amazon, making its television channel available directly through Prime Video in France and Germany. The agreement strengthens the broadcaster’s presence on streaming platforms and supports its strategy of reaching audiences across multiple distribution channels.
Amazon Prime members in both countries can now access TV5MONDE through the Prime Video interface, offering a selection of French-language programming covering culture, current affairs, arts and travel.
Among the programmes available is La Grande Galerie Francophone, a weekly arts show broadcast on Sundays. The offering also includes Maghreb Orient Express, which explores cultural developments across the Arab world every Saturday, and Destination Francophonie, a monthly programme dedicated to travel, discovery and French-speaking communities worldwide.
Kim Younes, CEO of TV5MONDE, described the agreement as another milestone in the broadcaster’s hyperdistribution strategy. The initiative aims to make French-language content more accessible by reaching viewers through the platforms and services they already use.
The offering has been adapted to local audiences. In Germany, TV5MONDE programming is available with German subtitles, helping broaden its appeal beyond French-speaking viewers. In France, Prime Video users can also access a selection of catch-up programmes.
The partnership complements TV5MONDE’s existing distribution agreements in both markets. In France, the channel is already carried by the country’s major internet service providers, while German viewers can access it through Deutsche Telekom’s IPTV service.
By adding Prime Video to its distribution network, TV5MONDE is reinforcing a multiplatform approach that combines traditional television delivery with streaming services. The move illustrates how international broadcasters are increasingly using established digital platforms to extend their reach and improve content accessibility.
