Titan OS has strengthened its presence in Sweden through a new strategic partnership with TV4 Play, bringing the Swedish streaming service directly to connected TVs running the Titan OS platform.
TV4 Play will become available across Titan OS-powered smart TVs from manufacturers including Philips and Sharp, giving viewers direct access to TV4’s mix of entertainment, drama, news and live sport.
The integration goes beyond simply adding the TV4 Play app. The service will receive prominent placement on the Titan OS Home Page, while plans also include incorporating TV4 Play content into the operating system’s native search, personalised recommendation rails and dedicated Sports Hubs through live metadata feeds.
Swedish audiences will consequently be able to discover TV4 programming more directly from the television interface. Current content highlighted around the launch includes Robinson, Norwegian crime drama Death by the Fjord, Celebrity Bake Off Sweden, new Maria Wern films and the returning Swedish Hockey League (SHL).
For Titan OS, the agreement forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen its proposition with locally relevant content in individual European markets. Rick Fens, SVP of Business Development at Titan OS, described the TV4 Play integration as an important step in the company’s regional expansion.
TV4 also sees broad smart-TV availability as important to maintaining its reach. Jens Håkansta, Head of Channels at TV4, said the launch means TV4 Play is now available as an app on virtually all television sets sold in Sweden.
The partnership further illustrates how smart-TV operating systems are increasingly competing around content discovery, local services and direct integration, rather than simply providing access to standalone streaming apps.
