French operator Free has unveiled Free TV, a new free-to-access television platform positioned as France’s largest no-cost TV offering. The service, launched on October 21, 2025, is available nationwide via an app on smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, and web browsers, with no contract or subscription required.
Free TV gives viewers access to over 170 live channels, including the full suite of French DTT networks, a 25,000-title catch-up catalog, and Free Ciné, featuring more than 500 films and 1,000 episodes of TV series. The platform also introduces convenience features such as pause, rewind, and start-over, designed to make live viewing more flexible.
In parallel, the company has launched Free TV+, a premium upgrade offering over 300 channels, 45,000 on-demand programs, and the same flexibility features, priced at €0.99/month for the first year and €5.99/month thereafter. The service includes major pay-TV brands such as Disney Channel, CNN International, MTV, and National Geographic.
For Freebox and Free Mobile subscribers, Free TV+ is automatically included, replacing the existing OQEE app. These users gain expanded access to new thematic channels, upgraded replay libraries, and recording capabilities—ranging from 100 to 320 hours depending on the plan.
“Watching TV in 2025 is a real pain,” said Xavier Niel, founder of Free. “First you have to download an app for each channel, then create an account on every one. We’ve decided to change all that. Now TV is easy. Now TV is Free.”
Free TV and Free TV+ are compatible with most smart TV models (Samsung, LG, Philips, Hisense), connected devices such as Apple TV, Android TV, Fire TV, and Free’s own 4K TV Player.
By unifying access across devices and eliminating subscription barriers, Free positions itself at the forefront of France’s shifting TV landscape — where aggregation, accessibility, and user experience are fast becoming the key differentiators.
