FAST streaming provider wedotv has expanded its distribution in the UK with the launch of wedotv BIG stories on Freeview, where the channel is now available on channel 275.
At the same time, wedotv movies has been added to Freeview channel 98 as a fully integrated digital terrestrial television (DTT) service. The channel combines traditional broadcast distribution with digital advertising technologies such as FAST architecture, server-side ad insertion (SSAI) and a consent management platform (CMP).
Both channels are delivered using technology from Synapse TV, while distribution on Freeview is managed by Global Distribution Services, a major aggregator on the UK platform.
The wedotv BIG stories channel focuses on factual and documentary programming, while wedotv movies offers a curated selection of films enhanced through hybrid broadcast and streaming capabilities. According to the companies, the use of advanced ad-tech infrastructure allows scalable monetisation, targeted advertising and compliance with privacy requirements.
Global Distribution Services currently operates around 140 channels on Freeview, positioning it as one of the largest channel distributors on the platform. The latest launches mark a further step in wedotv’s efforts to expand its reach in the UK market by combining traditional broadcast distribution with digital streaming technologies.
