Paramount Global and Warner Bros. Discovery are expected to combine their streaming services HBO Max and Paramount+ into a single platform if the planned acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery by Paramount Skydance moves forward.
The plan was confirmed by Paramount CEO David Ellison during a call with investors. The combined service would bring together popular franchises from both platforms, including series such as The Sopranos, Game of Thrones and Succession, alongside Paramount titles like Yellowstone and Star Trek.
According to Ellison, the combined platform would unite the two companies’ streaming portfolios, which together account for more than 200 million direct-to-consumer subscribers across over 100 countries. The move is intended to strengthen their position against leading global streaming competitors.
Ellison also emphasised that HBO’s creative operations would remain independent, with Casey Bloys continuing to oversee the brand. While the name of the future service has not yet been revealed, the merger would likely lead to another rebranding of Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming offering, which reverted to the HBO Max name in 2025 after previously operating as Max.
