DAZN has reached an agreement to become the exclusive pay-TV distributor of Grup Mediapro’s World Cup channel in Spain, giving the platform full access to broadcast every match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. For the first time, DAZN users in Spain will be able to watch the entire tournament—both live and on demand including all games involving the Spanish national team.
Although DAZN will hold exclusive pay-TV rights, key fixtures will still be available free-to-air. Public broadcaster RTVE will show one match per day throughout the competition, including all Spain games. RTVE’s coverage will feature the opening match on June 11 in Mexico City, selected knockout matches, both semi-finals, the third-place playoff, and the final.
This agreement builds on the deal Mediapro signed with RTVE last year, under which Mediapro obtained the rights to broadcast every match of the tournament while RTVE retained free-to-air access to the most important games.
Mediapro previously announced its intention to launch a 24/7 World Cup channel on the GolStadium platform. This channel will be offered to all pay-TV operators and will carry exclusive rights to 71 of the 104 matches—an approach similar to its strategy during the Qatar 2022 event.
DAZN highlighted that adding a dedicated World Cup channel reinforces its position as the key football destination in the Spanish market, following its role as the exclusive global broadcaster for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. The company also emphasized its ongoing collaboration with FIFA, which includes the worldwide relaunch of FIFA+ this year—featuring live matches, highlights, and behind-the-scenes content from over 100 men’s and women’s national teams and various club competitions.
Óscar Vilda, CEO of DAZN Spain and Portugal, described the agreement as a milestone for local fans:“This is a historic announcement for football followers in Spain. We’re delighted that the full 2026 FIFA World Cup will be available on DAZN. This partnership allows us to offer the world’s biggest sporting event in a flexible and innovative way.”
