Sky News teams up with Arc XP to drive its digital transformation

0

Sky News has announced a partnership with Arc XP, the content platform and media operating system developed by The Washington Post, as part of its Sky News 2030 transformation programme. The collaboration is aimed at building a faster, smarter, and more adaptable platform that supports Sky News’s ambition to become a premium, video-first digital newsroom.

The Sky News 2030 initiative is a five-year plan designed to address the rapid changes reshaping the media industry. With audience habits shifting and technology — particularly artificial intelligence — redefining how news is discovered and shared, the project seeks to deliver high-quality, video-led journalism that audiences actively engage with across multiple platforms.

As AI continues to revolutionise how content is created and consumed, Arc XP provides Sky News with the infrastructure and expertise to stay ahead of this transformation. Arc XP’s proven track record in innovation — including the technology behind The Washington Post’s Ask the Post AI chatbot — makes it an ideal partner for this next stage of Sky News’s evolution.

One of the first joint initiatives under development is an AI-powered search function designed to offer users a more conversational and intuitive way to access trusted Sky News content. The feature is part of a broader AI strategy that aims to enhance journalistic workflows, improve the viewer experience, and uphold the standards of accurate and impartial reporting.

In an era increasingly influenced by misinformation and AI-generated content, Sky News is positioning itself as a trusted source of verified journalism, using AI responsibly to reinforce credibility rather than undermine it.

Andrew Thomson, Executive Director of Business Operations at Sky News, said:“As technology continues to change how audiences find and engage with news, we want to ensure Sky News remains the trusted destination for verified, high-quality journalism with premium customer experiences. Arc XP brings world-class expertise and technology that will help us accelerate that vision.”

Matt Monahan, President of Arc XP, added:“Today’s audiences are active participants in the news experience. They expect to engage, question, and contribute. We’re proud to partner with Sky News to innovate with AI and open new channels for dialogue that deliver more relevant, meaningful experiences to their audiences.”

The partnership underscores Sky News’s commitment to future-proofing its digital operations through AI and advanced content technologies — combining editorial integrity with cutting-edge innovation to shape the next generation of British journalism.
