NBCUniversal and Google have finalized a new multi-year distribution agreement, ensuring that NBCUniversal’s portfolio of channels will remain available to subscribers of YouTube TV in the United States. The deal follows weeks of tense negotiations between the two companies over carriage terms.
Under the renewed partnership, YouTube TV will continue to carry NBCUniversal networks including NBC, Telemundo, Bravo, CNBC, Golf Channel, E!, Oxygen True Crime, MSNBC, USA Network, Syfy, and Universo. The soon-to-launch NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) is also part of the lineup.
As part of the broader agreement, NBCUniversal’s streaming platform Peacock will soon be offered as a paid subscription through YouTube Primetime Channels, joining other premium streamers on the service. The deal also includes a multi-year extension covering Peacock’s availability across Google’s ecosystem, including Android devices, Google Play, and Google TV.
However, while Peacock will be accessible through YouTube’s Primetime Channels, its catalog will not be integrated directly into YouTube TV’s interface — a feature Google had reportedly sought during negotiations.
Matt Schnaars, President of Platform Distribution & Partnerships at NBCUniversal, said the new deal represents a major step forward for both companies. “This agreement is a win for our audiences and our business, securing long-term access to our full portfolio of broadcast and cable networks on YouTube TV while expanding Peacock’s reach through YouTube Primetime Channels and Google TV,” he said. “It reinforces our commitment to delivering premium entertainment to viewers wherever they choose to watch.”
Justin Connolly, Vice President and Global Head of Media & Sports at YouTube, added: “This renewed partnership reflects the evolving media landscape and our shared goal of making great content accessible across platforms. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with NBCUniversal to serve audiences worldwide.”
The agreement resolves one of the latest carriage disputes involving YouTube TV. It comes shortly after the removal of TelevisaUnivision channels from the service following a breakdown in negotiations. Maintaining NBCUniversal’s Telemundo network on the platform is particularly significant, as it ensures that Spanish-speaking viewers retain access to a major national broadcaster.
