The EW Scripps Company has reached an agreement to sell its Court TV network to Law&Crime, the legal and true-crime media company founded by Dan Abrams and now part of Jellysmack.
Scripps revived Court TV in 2019 after purchasing the brand from Turner, and the network has since covered several high-profile trials, including the Depp–Heard case, the Murdaugh trial, and the Derek Chauvin proceedings.
Law&Crime acquired by Jellysmack in 2023 produces legal and crime-related programming across FAST channels, streaming platforms and a major social footprint that includes more than 25 YouTube channels, with its main channel exceeding seven million subscribers.
According to Scripps president and CEO Adam Symson, the sale reflects the company’s long-standing strategy of investing in consumer trends and optimising portfolio value. He described Court TV as a strong fit for Law&Crime’s expanding catalogue of trial coverage.
Dan Abrams noted that Court TV has been foundational in his career and said the brand will continue as a standalone destination within Law&Crime, serving as the group’s central hub for trial-focused programming.
