German streaming platform Joyn, part of ProSiebenSat.1 Media, has unveiled Joyce, an AI-powered personal assistant created to help viewers find the right content more easily in today’s crowded streaming environment.
Designed to deliver personalised recommendations that evolve with each user’s preferences, Joyce marks Joyn’s latest step toward a smarter and more interactive viewing experience.
Powered by Google’s Gemini technology, Joyce can be used through both text and voice commands, allowing users to ask for tailored programme suggestions or search for new releases hands-free. The assistant is launching in beta mode on iOS, with Joyn noting that Joyce’s intelligence and functionality will grow as more users engage with it.
Benjamin Risom, Chief Product Officer at Joyn, described the innovation as a response to everyday viewing dilemmas:“We all know the question: What should I watch today? With Joyce, Joyn offers the easiest and smartest answer. She provides personalised recommendations and will soon include sorting options and release alerts — all while learning from each user’s habits. This is the streaming experience of the future.”
Beyond offering smart suggestions, Joyce is designed to bring a human touch to content discovery — combining data-driven precision with a friendly, conversational tone. Joyn says the assistant aims to make choosing what to watch not just easier, but also more engaging and fun.
With Joyce, Joyn positions itself at the forefront of AI-driven entertainment discovery, blending technology, personality, and personalisation to redefine how audiences explore their favourite shows and films.
