Banijay Entertainment introduces new music format Staying Alive

Banijay Entertainment has revealed a new music entertainment format titled Staying Alive, created by Endemol Shine Germany for ProSieben and Joyn. The show uses advanced digital technology to pair today’s leading music artists with legendary performers from the past, creating virtual duet performances with icons such as Elvis Presley, Whitney Houston, Amy Winehouse and Freddie Mercury.

Unveiled as part of Banijay Entertainment’s slate for the upcoming London TV Screenings, the format blends live performance and immersive tech. Each episode features contemporary artists — including Samu Haber, No Angels, Alvaro Soler and Sasha — reimagining both their own tracks and classic hits alongside digitally recreated music legends. A live studio audience selects the standout performance of the evening.

Fabian Tobias, Managing Director of Endemol Shine Germany, described the programme as a large-scale primetime music event designed to deliver both emotional resonance and technical innovation. He noted that the production team has combined creative ambition with cutting-edge tools to craft a format that feels both forward-looking and engaging.

James Townley, Chief Content Officer, Development at Banijay Entertainment, said presenting the format at the London TV Screenings underscores its global ambitions. He highlighted the show’s originality and technological innovation as evidence of the creative strengths within Banijay and the Endemol Shine Germany team.

Endemol Shine Germany, part of Banijay Germany, is known for producing major unscripted titles including The 50, Save the Date, Big Brother VIP, Kitchen Impossible and The Masked Singer Germany.
